Allogeneic osteoblastic cells are a cell therapy product comprised of viable bone-forming cells derived from bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) of healthy adult donors. These cells are ex vivo cultured, non-genetically modified, and directed toward the osteo-chondrogenic lineage while retaining key mesenchymal stem cell properties. The product (notably branded as ALLOB) is intended for local implantation at the site of bone injuries, especially in cases of delayed-union fractures, to enhance bone repair via both direct bone formation (osteogenesis) and paracrine stimulation of host bone regeneration pathways. Key indications include delayed union of long bone fractures, and there is potential for systemic use in rare bone diseases like osteogenesis imperfecta. It is administered percutaneously, offering a minimally invasive alternative to autologous bone grafts, and is developed under tissue engineered product regulations for advanced therapy medicinal products[1][2].
