This experimental cell therapy combination is being evaluated for the treatment of newly diagnosed Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus (T1DM). It involves the administration of allogenic adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells (AD-MSCs) in conjunction with autologous bone marrow mononuclear cells (BMMCs). AD-MSCs are utilized for their potent immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory properties, which aim to halt the autoimmune destruction of insulin-producing beta cells. BMMCs, which contain a heterogeneous population of progenitor cells, are included to potentially support revascularization and the regeneration of the pancreatic microenvironment. The primary goal of this Phase I study, led by Sophia Al-Adwan, is to assess the safety and feasibility of this combined cellular approach in adult patients.
