Allogenic placenta derived mesenchymal stem cells (PL-MSCs or PMSCs) are multipotent stromal cells isolated from human placental tissue after childbirth. These cells are considered a rich and sustainable source of mesenchymal stem/stromal cells for both autologous and allogeneic therapeutic applications. Compared to bone marrow-derived MSCs, PL-MSCs offer advantages such as easier accessibility, higher expansion potential in culture with lower risk of senescence, and reduced immunogenicity due to low expression of HLA class I and II molecules. Their primary mechanism is indirect—mediated by the secretion of a wide range of pro-regenerative and anti-inflammatory factors that modulate immune responses and promote tissue repair. Clinical studies have explored their use in conditions such as acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), COVID-19-related ARDS, cancer, neurological disorders, bone diseases, cardiovascular disorders, among others[1][2][3]. Safety has been demonstrated in early-phase clinical trials for intravenous administration in ARDS patients[2].
