Allogenix Plus is a bone substitute product used in reconstructive surgery, specifically for filling calvarial defects. It is a composite material consisting of human demineralized bone matrix (DBM), Pro Osteon Implant 500R (a coral-derived hydroxyapatite), and lecithin. The product is designed to be both osteoinductive, utilizing the natural growth factors and proteins found in demineralized bone to stimulate new bone formation, and osteoconductive, providing a porous, interconnected scaffold that facilitates bony ingrowth. Developed by Biomet Microfixation, Allogenix Plus is being investigated by the University of Missouri-Columbia in a pilot study for its efficacy in promoting ossification in children with metopic craniosynostosis undergoing cranial vault remodeling.
