Overview

A combination of allopurinol, a xanthine oxidase inhibitor that reduces uric acid production, and ascorbic acid (vitamin C), an antioxidant vitamin. This combination has been studied for its effects on uric acid levels in gout patients and for potential cardiovascular benefits. Research indicates that while allopurinol effectively lowers uric acid levels, adding vitamin C provides only minimal additional urate-lowering effects in patients with established gout.
