Overview

Allovectin-7 + dacarbazine is a combination therapy studied primarily for the treatment of metastatic melanoma. Allovectin-7 is an investigational gene therapy consisting of a plasmid/lipid complex encoding HLA-B7 and β2 microglobulin, both components of the major histocompatibility complex class I. Its mechanism aims to enhance immune recognition and destruction of cancer cells by increasing their immunogenicity[6][8]. Dacarbazine is a traditional chemotherapy agent classified as an alkylating agent; it works by damaging DNA in cancer cells, leading to cell death. It is used intravenously and has been approved for metastatic melanoma and Hodgkin's lymphoma[1][2][5]. The combination was evaluated in clinical trials for advanced melanoma but did not achieve regulatory approval.
