Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Alltracel Bioactive is a cardiovascular health compound developed by Alltracel Pharmaceuticals PLC. It is a derivative of cellulose fiber produced through a patented micro-dispersion process, sharing a technology platform with the company's m.doc woundcare products. Designed primarily for the functional food and beverage market, the bioactive works in the gastrointestinal tract by interacting with cholesterol, bile salts, and very low-density lipoproteins (VLDL) to inhibit their absorption. Clinical studies have demonstrated its efficacy in lowering LDL cholesterol and blood glucose levels, as well as reducing arterial plaque buildup. It is often studied in combination with other heart-health ingredients like plant sterols and omega-3 fatty acids to enhance its lipid-lowering effects.
