Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Allvent is a herbal medicine product developed by Weber & Weber Biologische Arzneimittel, specifically formulated for the dietary management of seasonal allergic rhinitis (hay fever) and for providing immune support. The active component is a specialized extract of the *Astragalus membranaceus* root, often referred to by the trade name Lectranal. Its primary mechanism of action is immunomodulation; it works to rebalance the immune system by promoting T-helper cell type 1 (Th1) activity while downregulating the T-helper cell type 2 (Th2) response. This shift helps to reduce the production of allergen-specific IgE antibodies and the subsequent release of inflammatory mediators, thereby alleviating common hay fever symptoms such as sneezing, nasal congestion, and itchy eyes. It is typically classified as a food for special medical purposes (FSMP) in European markets.
