Overview

Allya is a branded botanical formulation of Devil's Claw (*Harpagophytum procumbens*), a plant native to Southern Africa traditionally used for its anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties. Developed and evaluated in clinical trials by the University of Southampton, Allya is specifically targeted for the treatment of pain and stiffness associated with osteoarthritis of the knee and hip. The extract's primary bioactive constituent is harpagoside, an iridoid glycoside that inhibits inflammatory pathways, including the cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) and 5-lipoxygenase (5-LOX) enzymes. As a phytotherapeutic product, it is positioned as a potentially safer alternative to conventional non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), which are often limited by gastrointestinal side effects during long-term use.
