ALM-701 is a small molecule inhibitor of Ubiquitin Specific Peptidase 7 (USP7) currently in preclinical development by Almac Discovery. USP7 is a deubiquitinating enzyme (DUB) that plays a critical role in regulating the stability of various proteins, including those involved in viral replication and oncogenesis. By inhibiting USP7, ALM-701 aims to disrupt the survival and proliferation of Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV)-driven cancers, such as EBV-associated lymphomas and certain epithelial cancers, as well as other virally-driven malignancies. The program is part of Almac Discovery's internal pipeline focusing on deubiquitinase targets for oncology and other therapeutic areas.
