ALMS-002 (also known by the study code QSC300787) is an investigational, brain-penetrant small molecule inhibitor of Tyrosine Kinase 2 (TYK2) developed by Alumis Inc. TYK2 is a member of the Janus kinase (JAK) family that mediates signaling for key pro-inflammatory cytokines, including interleukin-23 (IL-23), IL-12, and Type I interferons. Unlike Alumis's lead candidate ESK-001, ALMS-002 is specifically designed to cross the blood-brain barrier, making it a potential therapeutic for neuroinflammatory and neurodegenerative conditions such as multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, and Alzheimer's disease. As of 2024, the compound has been evaluated in Phase I clinical trials in healthy volunteers to assess safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics.
