ALN-2232 is an investigational RNA interference (RNAi) therapeutic developed by Alnylam Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of obesity and weight management. It specifically targets the activin A receptor type 1C (ACVR1C), also known as ALK7 (activin receptor-like kinase 7), in adipose tissue. By utilizing small interfering RNA (siRNA) technology, ALN-2232 silences the messenger RNA (mRNA) encoding the ACVR1C protein, which is involved in regulating adipocyte function and energy homeostasis. The drug is currently in the preclinical stage of development and represents Alnylam's first adipose-directed target in their metabolic disease portfolio.
