Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ALN-Targeted Small Molecules is a preclinical-stage drug delivery program developed by Alnair Therapeutics that utilizes the proprietary Alnair Lactate-reactive Nanoparticle (ALN) platform. The technology employs mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSN) loaded with small-molecule therapeutic agents and sealed with a specialized lactate-reactive cap. This system is designed to exploit the Warburg effect, a metabolic hallmark of cancer where tumors produce high concentrations of lactate in the tumor microenvironment (TME). The nanoparticle's cap contains an enzyme that oxidizes lactate to generate hydrogen peroxide, which in turn triggers the degradation of the cap and the selective release of the small-molecule payload specifically within the lactate-rich TME. This targeted approach aims to deliver high concentrations of therapeutic agents directly to tumors, such as breast and colorectal cancers, while sparing healthy tissues and reducing systemic toxicity.
