Overview

Alocyte is a cellular therapeutic product derived from human umbilical cord blood, consisting of cord blood plasma and mononuclear cells. Developed by Dr. Alimorad Farshchian, it is currently being evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials for the treatment of facetogenic back pain. The product is minimally manipulated and contains a heterogeneous population of cellular components, including nucleated cells, exosomes, and various cytokines. Alocyte demonstrates robust expression of repair-oriented cytokines such as RANTES (CCL5) and Osteopontin, as well as pro-angiogenic factors like Angiostatin. The treatment is administered via intra-articular facet injection and aims to provide a regenerative approach by reducing local inflammation and promoting tissue repair within the facet joints, addressing the underlying pathogenic mechanisms of back pain.
