Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Aloe barbadensis Mill. extract (specifically the standardized extract AVH200) is a botanical extract derived from the inner leaf gel of the *Aloe barbadensis* Miller (Aloe vera) plant. Developed by Calmino Group, it is formulated as a certified medical device (marketed under the brand name ProIBS) for the treatment of symptoms associated with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), including abdominal pain, bloating, diarrhea, and constipation. The extract contains gel-forming polysaccharides (such as acemannan) that support and protect the intestinal mucosal barrier. Additionally, it has been shown to possess immunomodulatory properties, including the reduction of T-cell activation and proliferation, and the suppression of pro-inflammatory cytokine secretion (such as IL-2, IFN-γ, and IL-17A) in vitro.
