Overview
Aloenin is a natural phenylpyrone glucoside primarily isolated from *Aloe* species, such as *Aloe arborescens*. It is being investigated for its therapeutic potential in treating inflammatory skin conditions, most notably psoriasis. The compound exhibits significant anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, which it exerts by reducing the levels of proinflammatory cytokines and mitigating oxidative stress. In experimental models, aloenin has been formulated into nanogels to enhance its topical delivery, demonstrating the ability to improve skin thickness, reduce erythema, and promote healing in imiquimod-induced psoriasis-like conditions.
