Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Alogliptin + metformin** is an oral fixed-dose antidiabetic combination containing alogliptin, a selective dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitor, and metformin, a biguanide. It is used with diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Alogliptin inhibits DPP-4, increasing endogenous active incretin concentrations and thereby enhancing glucose-dependent insulin secretion and reducing glucagon secretion; metformin primarily reduces hepatic glucose production and improves insulin sensitivity. Marketed formulations include **Kazano** in the United States and **Inisync** in Japan. ([accessdata.fda.gov](https://www.accessdata.fda.gov/drugsatfda_docs/label/2026/203414s019lbl.pdf))
