Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Aloglutamol is an antacid salt composed of aluminium, gluconic acid, and tris (tromethamine). It is used for the treatment of hyperacidity, esophagitis, gastritis, peptic ulcer disease, hiatal hernia, heartburn, indigestion, acid reflux, ulcers and gas. Upon administration in the stomach, its components react with hydrochloric acid to form less soluble salts and free gluconic acid. This reaction buffers gastric acidity without causing a rapid rise in pH or rebound hyperacidity. Aloglutamol is marketed under several trade names including Altris, Pyreses, Tasto and Sabro.
