alox15 siRNA is a small interfering RNA (siRNA) designed to silence the expression of the ALOX15 gene, which encodes the enzyme 15-lipoxygenase. In the context of respiratory research, particularly Type 2-high asthma, ALOX15 is a key mediator of airway inflammation induced by cytokines like IL-4 and IL-13. By targeting ALOX15 mRNA for degradation, this siRNA reduces the production of 15-lipoxygenase, thereby modulating downstream pathways such as ferroptosis, interleukin signaling, and macrophage activation. While currently utilized as a research tool in in vitro models (e.g., BEAS-2b cells), it represents a potential therapeutic strategy for managing eosinophilic airway inflammation and lung function impairment in asthma patients.
