Overview

ALP001E is an investigational small molecule drug candidate developed by CMC Magnetics Corporation for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. It acts as an agonist of the G protein-coupled receptor 119 (GPR119), a receptor primarily expressed in pancreatic beta cells and intestinal enteroendocrine cells (L-cells). Activation of GPR119 by ALP001E stimulates glucose-dependent insulin secretion and promotes the release of incretin hormones, such as glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP). This dual mechanism of action aims to improve glycemic control and potentially preserve beta-cell function in patients with type 2 diabetes. ALP001E has been evaluated in Phase I clinical trials (NCT04841200) to assess its safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics in both healthy volunteers and diabetic patients.
