Alpha Beta Arteether is an artemisinin-derived antimalarial agent manufactured by Bhumi Pharmaceuticals. It is a semi-synthetic derivative of artemisinin, specifically the ethyl ether of dihydroartemisinin, typically existing as a mixture of alpha and beta enantiomers. Functioning as a fast-acting blood schizonticide, it is primarily indicated for the treatment of severe and complicated malaria, including cerebral malaria caused by *Plasmodium falciparum*. The drug's mechanism of action involves the iron-mediated cleavage of its internal endoperoxide bridge within the parasite's food vacuole, leading to the generation of reactive free radicals and electrophilic intermediates that covalently bind to and damage essential malarial proteins and membranes. It is administered via parenteral routes, commonly through intramuscular or intravenous injection, to ensure rapid therapeutic levels in acute cases.
