Overview

Alpha-lipoic acid + insulin is a combination therapy consisting of an antioxidant (alpha-lipoic acid) and a hormone medication (insulin). Alpha-lipoic acid works as an insulin sensitizer by improving glucose uptake via GLUT4 translocation and activation, while also providing antioxidant effects. When combined with insulin, it may enhance glycemic control but requires careful monitoring due to potential hypoglycemic effects.
