Drug intelligence / Profile preview
alpha-NETA (2-(alpha-naphthoyl)ethyltrimethylammonium iodide) is a synthetic small molecule that acts as a potent, non-competitive inhibitor of choline acetyltransferase (ChAT) and a potent antagonist of chemokine-like receptor 1 (CMKLR1, also known as ChemR23). Additionally, it has been identified as an agonist of trace amine-associated receptor 5 (TAAR5) and an antagonist of aldehyde dehydrogenase 1 family member A1 (ALDH1A1). alpha-NETA is widely utilized as a research-use-only tool compound to investigate cholinergic transmission, chemerin/CMKLR1 signaling, and TAAR5 biology in preclinical models of inflammatory diseases, metabolic disorders, and various cancers.
