alpha-VEGFR2-Fc is a recombinant antibody-based construct designed to target **Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor Receptor 2 (VEGFR2)**, also known as KDR (in humans) or Flk-1 (in mice). The molecule typically consists of an anti-VEGFR2 binding domain—such as a monoclonal antibody variable region or a single-chain variable fragment (scFv)—fused to an immunoglobulin **Fc region**. In the context of cancer research and immunotherapy, this construct is utilized to target the tumor vasculature, where VEGFR2 is highly expressed on activated endothelial cells. By binding to VEGFR2, alpha-VEGFR2-Fc can serve as a targeting moiety for the development of multi-specific agents, such as **T-cell engaging bispecific antibodies** (e.g., anti-VEGFR2-anti-CD3). These agents aim to recruit effector T cells directly to the tumor endothelium, reversing endothelial cell anergy, upregulating adhesion molecules like ICAM-1 and VCAM-1, and ultimately enhancing the infiltration and activity of immune cells within the tumor microenvironment.
