Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ALPHAMITS is a nutritional supplement containing alpha keto-analogues of essential amino acids, developed and manufactured by MITS Healthcare. It is primarily indicated for the management of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and liver disease, typically used in conjunction with a low-protein diet. The drug works by providing essential amino acids in their keto or hydroxy forms, which do not contain nitrogen. These analogues are transaminated into active essential amino acids by utilizing nitrogen from non-essential amino acids or urea, thereby reducing the accumulation of toxic nitrogenous waste products in patients with impaired renal or hepatic function. This metabolic process helps maintain proper protein nutrition while slowing the progression of kidney disease and delaying the need for dialysis initiation.
