Overview

AlphaVax's VRP-based adjuvant is an immunotherapy platform technology utilizing viral replicon particles (VRP) derived from an attenuated strain of the Venezuelan equine encephalitis virus (VEE). These particles are propagation-defective, single-cycle alphavirus replicon particles that contain self-replicating RNA. Designed to be co-administered with tumor antigen vaccines, the VRP adjuvant enhances immune responses by leveraging the natural tropism of VEE for lymphatic tissues and dendritic cells. The self-replicating RNA can be engineered to express cytokines or other immunomodulatory molecules to further boost the immune response. This platform facilitates the activation of both cellular (T-cell) and humoral (B-cell) immunity and has been evaluated in multiple Phase I and Phase II clinical trials, demonstrating a favorable safety profile in over 500 subjects.
