Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Alphavis-T is a fixed-dose combination ophthalmic solution developed and marketed by Grevis Pharma for the management of intraocular pressure (IOP) in patients with glaucoma or ocular hypertension. The formulation contains brimonidine tartrate (0.2%), a selective alpha-2 adrenergic receptor agonist, and timolol maleate (0.5%), a non-selective beta-adrenergic receptor blocker. These components work through complementary mechanisms: timolol reduces the formation of aqueous humor, while brimonidine both decreases aqueous humor production and enhances uveoscleral outflow. This dual action effectively lowers IOP in patients who require more than one medication to achieve target pressure levels. It is administered topically as eye drops twice daily.
