Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Alpinia hainanensis extract is derived from the rhizome of the *Alpinia hainanensis* plant, a traditional ethnic medicine and food spice in Southwest China. Specifically, the EtOAc-soluble fraction of its ethanol extract has demonstrated the ability to ameliorate dextran sulfate sodium-induced ulcerative colitis. This extract is rich in various bioactive compounds, including diarylheptanoids, flavonoids, phenolics, and unique curcumin-butyrovanillone hybrids. It is being explored for its anti-inflammatory properties and its potential as a nutritional and dietary supplement for treating ulcerative colitis.
