A combination of botanical extracts from *Alpinia oxyphylla* (Yi Zhi Ren) and *Clinacanthus nutans* (Sabah Snake Grass) being evaluated for the treatment of diabetic kidney disease (DKD). *Alpinia oxyphylla* is a traditional Chinese medicine known for its renoprotective and anti-polyuric effects, while *Clinacanthus nutans* possesses anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. The combination is investigated for its ability to modulate the ChemR23 (CMKLR1) signaling pathway and reduce inflammatory markers associated with diabetic nephropathy. A clinical trial (ChiCTR2600122764) conducted by the Hainan Medical College First Affiliated Hospital compares the efficacy of this herbal combination against the SGLT2 inhibitor canagliflozin in patients with DKD.
