Overview
Alpinia oxyphylla oil is a natural botanical extract derived from the seeds or fruits of *Alpinia oxyphylla* Miquel, a perennial herb in the Zingiberaceae family with a long history of use in traditional Chinese medicine. The oil is a complex mixture of volatile compounds, primarily sesquiterpenes and other terpenoids. Preclinical research has demonstrated its potential therapeutic effects in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) by inhibiting the PI3K/Akt signaling pathway and inducing apoptosis. Additionally, it has shown neuroprotective and antidepressant-like activities, potentially through the modulation of the TLR4/MyD88/NF-κB pathway, cholinergic balance, and serotonergic signaling. While it has been studied by various academic institutions in China, it has not yet advanced to clinical trials as a regulated pharmaceutical product.
