Overview

AlpN GBS monoclonal antibodies are a series of therapeutic antibodies being developed by Minervax to target the Alpha-like protein family (AlpN) of Group B Streptococcus (GBS). These antibodies are designed to recognize and bind to highly conserved N-terminal domains of AlpN antigens, including AlpC, Rib, Alp1, and Alp2/3, which are also the components of Minervax's lead vaccine candidate. By binding to these surface proteins, the monoclonal antibodies aim to neutralize the bacteria and promote their clearance by the immune system. This approach is intended to prevent or treat invasive GBS infections, particularly in newborns and vulnerable adults, serving as either an alternative or a complement to maternal vaccination strategies. The program is currently in early preclinical development.
