ALS-L1023 + ranibizumab is a combination therapy investigated for the treatment of neovascular (wet) age-related macular degeneration (AMD). **ALS-L1023** is a proprietary extract of *Melissa officinalis* (lemon balm) developed for its potential anti-angiogenic and antifibrotic effects, shown to modulate pathways such as hedgehog signaling and to inhibit abnormal vessel growth in preclinical liver fibrosis and ocular neovascularization models. **Ranibizumab** is a recombinant humanized monoclonal antibody fragment targeting vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGF-A), effectively inhibiting angiogenesis by blocking VEGF-A from binding its receptors (VEGFR1 and VEGFR2) on endothelial cells. The combination aims to synergistically reduce pathological neovascularization and progression of AMD by integrating the anti-VEGF effect of ranibizumab with the complementary inhibition of fibrotic and angiogenic pathways by ALS-L1023[1][2][3][9].
