ALT-021 is a monoclonal antibody being developed by Allterum Therapeutics, a company founded by Fannin Innovation Studio, for the treatment of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL), with a specific focus on T-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (T-ALL). The therapeutic targets the Interleukin-7 receptor alpha (IL-7Rα, also known as CD127), a protein that is frequently overexpressed or constitutively activated via mutations in T-ALL patients. By binding to IL-7Rα, ALT-021 antagonizes the IL-7 signaling pathway, which is a critical driver of leukemic cell survival, growth, and proliferation. The drug is designed to induce apoptosis in malignant lymphoblasts while minimizing impact on healthy tissues. It is currently in the discovery and preclinical stages of development.
