ALT-836 is a chimeric human-murine monoclonal antibody that targets tissue factor (TF), a key initiator of the extrinsic coagulation cascade. By binding to TF or the TF-Factor VIIa complex, ALT-836 prevents activation of Factor X and Factor IX. This inhibition blocks thrombin formation and may reduce cancer-associated venous thromboembolism as well as inhibit angiogenesis and tumor cell proliferation. The drug has been primarily developed for conditions involving dysregulated coagulation and inflammation such as acute lung injury (ALI), acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), sepsis-induced ALI/ARDS, and thrombosis. It has also been investigated in solid tumors due to its potential anti-tumor effects via inhibition of tissue factor-mediated pathways[1][2][4][5].
