Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ALT001 is a recombinant humanized type II collagen (rhCol II) being developed for the treatment of osteoarthritis, specifically knee osteoarthritis. Administered via intra-articular injection, the drug is designed to replenish the natural type II collagen that degrades in the articular cartilage during the progression of osteoarthritis. By supplementing the extracellular matrix, ALT001 aims to restore structural integrity, provide lubrication, and reduce mechanical friction within the joint space. This biologic approach is intended to alleviate pain intensity, improve joint motor function, and enhance the quality of life for patients. The development of ALT001 is led by Wuhan Ailite Biotechnology in collaboration with clinical investigators at Union Hospital, Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology.
