Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**ALTA-2350** is a novel inhaled formulation of recombinant interleukin-1 receptor antagonist (IL-1Ra), a protein therapeutic designed to inhibit the pro-inflammatory cytokine interleukin-1 (IL-1) by competitively binding to its receptor. Developed for potential use in inflammatory respiratory conditions, it leverages inhalation for targeted lung delivery to block IL-1 mediated inflammation, which drives tissue damage in diseases like acute lung injury or pulmonary fibrosis. Sumitovant Biopharma is advancing it through early nonclinical proof-of-concept studies as of late 2022, highlighting its potential as a localized anti-inflammatory therapy.[9]
