Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Altalube is an over-the-counter ophthalmic lubricant eye ointment developed and marketed by Altaire Pharmaceuticals for symptomatic relief of dry eye and ocular irritation. It is a topical small-molecule combination formulation containing mineral oil 15% and white petrolatum 85%, used as an ocular protectant and lubricant. Rather than acting through a specific molecular target, it works mechanically by coating the ocular surface and eyelid margin, reducing tear evaporation and friction, and providing a protective barrier that relieves dryness and irritation.
