ALTEANA

ALTEANA is an anti-tetanus vaccine developed by the Slovak pharmaceutical company Imuna Pharm. It is composed of tetanus toxin that has been inactivated by formaldehyde (tetanus toxoid or anatoxin) and purified to maintain its antigenicity. To enhance the immune response, the toxoid is adsorbed onto a mineral carrier, specifically aluminum hydroxide. The vaccine is indicated for the active immunization of children and adults against tetanus, as well as for post-traumatic prophylaxis in individuals with incomplete or undocumented vaccination history. Upon intramuscular administration, ALTEANA stimulates the production of specific antibodies against the tetanus toxin, providing protection against infection by *Clostridium tetani*.
