Overview

Altebrel is a biosimilar version of etanercept developed by AryoGen Pharmed as a recombinant dimeric fusion protein comprising the extracellular domain of the human p75 tumor necrosis factor (TNF) receptor linked to the Fc portion of human IgG1. It functions as a soluble TNF receptor that binds and neutralizes TNF-α (and TNF-β), thereby inhibiting downstream inflammatory signaling in immune-mediated diseases. Produced in Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells using recombinant DNA technology, Altebrel is approved in Iran for subcutaneous treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis/axial spondyloarthritis, psoriatic arthritis, plaque psoriasis, juvenile idiopathic arthritis, and related TNF-driven inflammatory disorders, with dosing regimens mirroring those of reference etanercept.
