Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Altersolanol B is a natural tetrahydroanthraquinone (THAQ) metabolite isolated from fungi, such as *Alternaria* species. It is being investigated as a potential therapeutic agent for estrogen receptor-positive (ER+) breast adenocarcinoma. Altersolanol B acts as a selective estrogen receptor degrader (SERD), binding directly to the ligand-binding domain of estrogen receptor alpha (ERα) and inducing its proteasome-dependent degradation. Additionally, it has been shown to modulate multiple oncogenic signaling pathways, including the downregulation of AKT and ERK1/2 signaling, leading to intrinsic apoptosis in breast cancer cells.
