Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**altSonflex1-2-3 Low Dose** is the Dose A formulation of GSK's investigational tetravalent GMMA-based Shigella vaccine candidate, now licensed to Bharat Biotech for continued development. It contains 3.75 µg of O-antigen from each of four targeted Shigella serotypes—*Shigella sonnei* and *Shigella flexneri* serotypes 1b, 2a, and 3a—and is intended to prevent shigellosis. The vaccine uses Generalized Modules for Membrane Antigens, which are bacterial outer-membrane-vesicle particles carrying serotype-specific lipopolysaccharide O-antigen; vaccination is designed to induce functional anti-O-antigen serum antibodies, including bactericidal antibodies, that protect against Shigella infection. The low-dose formulation was evaluated in the completed Phase I/II dose-finding study NCT05073003, including a three-dose regimen in infants.
