Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ALTUCAP is a proprietary immune-protective micro-encapsulation delivery platform developed by ALTuCell. It utilizes patented barium alginate-based microcapsules to encapsulate therapeutic cells, such as Sertoli cells or Wharton's jelly-derived stem cells. The technology creates a physical barrier that prevents host immune cells and antibodies from contacting the transplanted cells while allowing the diffusion of nutrients, oxygen, and therapeutic factors. This "immune-protective shield" is designed to enable long-term cell implantation without the need for systemic immunosuppression. It serves as the foundational delivery system for ALTuCell's pipeline products, including Altsulin and ALTUSTEM, targeting Type 1 diabetes, autoimmune disorders, and neurodegenerative diseases.
