aluminium acetotartrate

Aluminium acetotartrate is an organic acid salt formed from acetic acid and tartaric acid with aluminum. It acts as a topical astringent and disinfectant. The compound is used in 0.5–2% solutions as a nasal douche for respiratory tract conditions, in 1–3% solutions as a substitute for aluminum acetate solution, in concentrated form as a lotion for frostbite and balanitis, and as snuff (with boric acid) for atrophic rhinitis. It is also applied topically in ointment or cream form to promote healing of wounds or treat skin conditions such as erythrodermic psoriasis. Its mechanism of action involves protein precipitation on the skin or mucous membranes, leading to reduced inflammation and antimicrobial effects[5][7].
