Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ACEDONE-Z is a marketed non-systemic antacid combination containing aluminium hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide, developed and manufactured by Zenith Pharmaceuticals in Bangladesh. It is indicated for the fast, symptomatic relief of acid-related gastrointestinal disorders, including hyperacidity, peptic ulcer disease, gastritis, heartburn, sour stomach, and dyspepsia. The combination of these two antacids provides a balanced therapeutic effect: aluminium hydroxide is a slow-acting antacid with adsorbent properties that can cause constipation, while magnesium hydroxide is a faster-acting antacid with a mild laxative effect. Together, they neutralize gastric hydrochloric acid to raise stomach pH and form a protective coating over the mucosal lining without causing significant acid rebound, constipation, or diarrhea.
