ALV-100

ALV-100 is a bifunctional fusion protein being developed by Alveus Therapeutics for the treatment of obesity and chronic weight management in adults, including those with type 2 diabetes. The drug acts as a dual-action metabolic regulator, functioning as a glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide receptor (GIPR) antagonist and a glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor (GLP-1R) agonist. This mechanism is designed to deliver durable weight loss and improved body composition with better tolerability and less frequent dosing compared to existing obesity therapies. Originally developed by Gmax Biopharm, Alveus acquired the global rights (excluding Greater China) in 2024. It is currently in Phase 1b clinical trials following FDA IND clearance in January 2026.
