ALVAC-CMV vCP260 is an investigational cytomegalovirus (CMV) vaccine candidate that uses a highly attenuated canarypox virus vector (ALVAC) to deliver the gene encoding the major CMV matrix phosphoprotein 65 (pp65). The vaccine is designed to induce robust cellular immune responses, particularly cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) responses against CMV. In clinical studies, it has demonstrated the ability to elicit long-lasting pp65-specific CD8+ T cell responses and helper T cell proliferation in seronegative adults. The primary indication for this vaccine is prevention of CMV infection and disease, especially in immunocompromised populations such as stem cell transplant recipients[2][3][4][6].
