ALVAC-HIV vCP300 is an investigational recombinant viral vector vaccine candidate developed for the prevention of HIV-1 infection. It utilizes a modified, replication-incompetent canarypox virus (ALVAC) vector to express multiple HIV-1 antigens, specifically the envelope glycoprotein gp120, the structural Gag protein, the viral protease, and cytotoxic T-lymphocyte (CTL) epitopes from the Nef and Pol proteins. Developed by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) in collaboration with Sanofi Pasteur, vCP300 is designed to induce broad cellular immune responses, particularly CD8+ T-cell activity. In clinical development, it was primarily evaluated in prime-boost strategies where the viral vector prime was followed by a protein subunit boost (such as rgp120/HIV-1 SF2) to elicit both cellular immunity and neutralizing antibodies.
