Overview

ALVAC-MAGE is a recombinant canarypox virus–based cancer vaccine designed to stimulate immune responses against tumor cells by expressing human tumor-associated MAGE (Melanoma Antigen Gene) antigens. The construct encodes minigenes for two immunogenic peptides, MAGE-3(168-176) and MAGE-1(161-169), presented on HLA-A1 and B35. Administration of ALVAC-MAGE aims to induce cytolytic T lymphocyte (CTL) responses targeting melanoma cells expressing these MAGE antigens. Developed for advanced melanoma and evaluated in clinical studies, ALVAC-MAGE has shown the ability to induce antitumor immune responses and can be given intradermally or subcutaneously.
