Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Alveair is an inhalable insulin formulation developed by Coremed, Inc. for the treatment of diabetes mellitus. Designed as a non-invasive alternative to traditional subcutaneous injections, Alveair utilizes a pulmonary delivery system to administer insulin directly to the lungs, where it is absorbed into the systemic circulation. In 2005, Coremed entered into a joint venture partnership with China-based Wanbang Biopharmaceuticals and Fosun Pharma to further the development of the product. As a protein-based biologic, Alveair acts as an agonist at the insulin receptor, mimicking the action of endogenous insulin to regulate blood glucose levels.
