Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Alveavax is a plasmid DNA-based vaccine developed by Alvea for the prevention of COVID-19, specifically targeting the SARS-CoV-2 Omicron and BA.2 variants. The vaccine works by introducing DNA encoding viral antigens into host cells, prompting them to produce these antigens and thereby stimulating an immune response against the virus. Alveavax is administered via intradermal or subcutaneous injection and has been evaluated in a Phase I clinical trial as a booster in individuals previously vaccinated with Ad26.COV2.S (Janssen) COVID-19 vaccine[1][3][7].
